Venosc

is a village

in the "Parc National des Ecrins".

Located at the entrance of the Vénéon valley, it is the starting point of many rambles during which you will discover animals, flowers, in unforgettable landscapes.

Our lodging offers concern flats laid out in the old family farm located in the quiet hamlet of "la ville" in the higher part of the village

View on the "Muzelle" glacier and the "grand Rochail" mountain

The owner André, is a guard in the Ecrins national park ; he will tell you where to observe the chamois and watch the marmots.

He will give you advices to make your rambles a success

Total area : 30m² ; Eastward oriented, it has a wooden balcony (1st prize in the blossomed balconies contest) and a wide terrace with garden table and chairs, and parasol.

It includes a double bed and two single beds.

The bathroom comprises a bath-tube and also the wc.

Venosc Vénéon in summer.

Venosc is a village located in the Dauphiné region at 60 km from Grenoble. It is on the road to Italy and to the high cols of the tour de France including the famous stop at the Alpe d’Huez.

The Venosc municipality has for that matter hosted a stop of the tour de France in 2001 with arrival and departure at the ski resort of Les 2 Alpes ( les Deux Alpes being the regrouping of two municipalities : the Mont de Lans and Venosc)

Its location in the Oisans region is ideal for departures to the cols and for the famous bike race « la Marmotte ».

Venosc is also a village located in the heart of the Ecrins National Park, at the entrance of the Vénéon valley on the crossing of the GR54 track.

This privileged location enables a large choice for hiking departing from Venosc, such as the not-to-be-missed Lauvitel lake (also written Lovitel) known as one of the most beautiful sites of the National Park, or the Muzelle lake and hut where marmots and lamb herds meet together.

From our furnished apartments, it is possible to see the chamois in the spruce forest of the opposite mountain. And depending on the season you will discover a gorgeous flora and fauna on diverse easy itineraries that are perfectly marked and maintained.

The Village is also a whole story, this of the hawkers, the slate workers, the coal miners and of course, the peasants who built these terrasse meadows up to more than 2000m.

Venosc is also the Vénéon valley high place of alpinism and climbing, and of prestigious pics since by walking calmly you can reach in 2h30min the bottom of the south face of La Meije , climbed in 1877 by the guide Gaspard.
The Alpinism Museum of St Christophe en Oisans (15 minutes drive from Venosc) relates amazingly the story of the peasan guides.

Admire forever the west face of the Ecrins or the Ailefroide (litterally “cold wing”) one hour away from Venosc (route included) or simply spend one night in a hut for a longer trip with a professionnal high mountain guide.

From La Bérarde walk to the bottom of the Pilate glacier source of the Vénéon river, spied by the chamois in the scent of the June or July flowers.

And if you work on it you may see in a steep slope the proud ibex but to do so, it is necessary to walk a little more…

Come and discover with a basic training or by yourself the joy of angling fishing or casting fishing in the torrents such as the Vénéon or in the lakes such as the Muzelle, Lauvitel or many other ones since you are here in the Six Valleys Oisans.

In the small valley of L’Anchatra, Pierrot the shepherd will be pleased to tell you about his job.

If you want to climb riskless try the Via ferrata, this of Venosc is visible from the balcony of our studio. You can also benefit from a unique natural sight from the sky by two-seater paragliding, with a qualified monitor from one of the paragliding schools of Les Deux Alpes.

Since the summer 2003 a mountain bike track of 1500m of dénivelée links the resort of Les Deux Alpes to the Village of Venosc, snaking in a green and shady underwood landscape through diverses signs from the past (« ancient slate quarry and hay cable »

These extreme sports are judiciously implemented in order not to perturb the calm of the village where you will enjoy visiting the craft shops or going to the swimming pool, horseback riding or even donkey back riding!

But in vacation you also need to eat: big grocery stores are accessible at 15 minutes driving in Bourg d’Oisans, and you can find in Venosc a local grocery store specialized in products from the soil, as well as a mobile backer/pastry chef and a butcher who stop by the plaza a few meters away from our apartments.

Finally for the resting days, numerous museums and exhibitions are waiting for you in the different villages of L’Oisans, Musée des minéraux (ores museum) in bourg d’Oisans, Hidrelec that relates the history of the “white gold” (hydroelectric power) since the Oisans contains many dams such as the barrage du Chambon built in 1927 and the very last and huge tout barrage de Grand Maison that ustilizes the most advanced technology for the production of electricity.
